First off, you’ll need to provide records of your academic achievements from high school or any previous colleges you attended. These records should show the classes you took and the grades you got.

Standardized Tests

You’ll likely need to take some standardized tests, like the SAT or ACT. These tests help the admissions team understand how well you do in subjects like math, reading, and writing. Here at Rochester, we do not require entrance exams as part of the application process for many of our programs. We will be pleased to review your GRE results as part of your application if you have previously took it and would want to submit them. Additionally, for international applicants who are not native English speakers, TOEFL or IELTS scores are necessary.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

We are aware that a student’s capacity to pay for their university education is influenced by a variety of factors. We pledge to serve every accepted student’s complete proven need. The University aims to make attendance affordable by offering a combination of need-based and merit-based aid. For overseas candidates, however, financial need is a contributing element. As a result, admission for needy kids is extremely selective.

International applicants must prove during the application process that they have the resources to attend Rochester (either personal funds or sponsorship) or that they are eligible for need-based assistance. The paperwork you have to send in as part of the application procedure will vary depending on whether you qualify for need-based financial assistance.

Candidates who can cover the entire cost of attendance are required to include a completed International Financial Support Form (IFSF) to their admissions application.

A copy of a sponsor letter should be sent as supporting material by applicants who are receiving funding from their government, a private sponsor, or another funding source that isn’t mentioned on IFSF.

International Students who qualify for need-based financial assistance

If you can’t afford all the costs to go to Rochester without help from the school or other sponsors, you need to fill out the CSS Profile. This form helps decide if you can get money from the University to help pay for school. Also, you have to do it every year you’re in school. You can start filling it out on October 1.

Only a few international students will get money from the University because there isn’t a lot of it available. If you can’t find enough money from other places to cover all the costs, you can’t get into the University.

We know that the CSS Profile Fee might be too expensive for some students who really need help. So, we bought some waivers for those students. To ask for a waiver:

You have to apply to Rochester using the Common Application or Coalition for College Application.
You have to say that the fee for the CSS Profile is too much for you.

You have to ask for a waiver by January 15 if you’re a new student or by April 15 if you’re transferring. If you’re applying for the spring semester, you need to ask by November 15. Furthermore, after you ask for the waiver, the International Admissions team will talk to you about what to do next.

Merit-based Financial Aid

Merit scholarships are awarded to all eligible candidates, regardless of citizenship. There is no need for extra paperwork in order to apply for a merit scholarship. Merit scholarships are given out regardless of a student’s need, thus in order to complete your application for admission, you still need to send in the necessary paperwork as mentioned above.

Secondary school Report and Transcripts

To complete your application to the University of Chicago, you’ll need your secondary school counselor or a teacher/administrator to submit the Secondary School Report along with an official transcript. Self-Submitted Transcripts

You can use self-submitted or official transcripts for your application. There’s no need to submit official transcripts unless you’re admitted and decide to enroll. If you have a copy of your transcript, you can fax, mail, or upload it through your UChicago Account. We understand that ordering transcripts can be costly, so we’re flexible in accepting self-submitted ones.

Letters of Recommendation

To complete your application to the University of Chicago, you’ll need two recommendations from teachers who have taught you in academic subjects. For first-year applicants, these should be high school teachers, and for transfer applicants, they should be college instructors.

Academic subjects include math, social studies, history, science, English or literature, foreign language, or any class involving substantial reading, writing, or class discussion. If you’re unsure about a particular course, you can contact your regional Admissions Counselor for clarification.

For U.S. citizens and permanent residents applying to the College, submitting an application for financial aid isn’t required for admission consideration. If you have trouble accessing traditional tests, you can take the Duolingo English Test online and share your scores with KU. But even if you submit Duolingo scores, you’ll also still need to take the AEC test.

You don’t need to prove your English skills if any of these apply to you:

You’re a native English speaker.
You’ve completed four years of college preparatory English and graduated high school with a GPA of 2.5 or higher in one of these regions. United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and an English-speaking province of Canada. As well as an English-speaking Caribbean country, an English-speaking African country, or any U.S.-accredited school.
You’ve also received a grade of B or better in both College English Composition 1 and 2 and earned at least 24 credit hours toward a degree at a qualifying institution in one of the regions listed above.
You’ve also finished the full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program with an English HL score of 5 or higher.
You’ve obtained an associate’s degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher from a U.S.-accredited college after completing post-secondary education.

Scholarships for International Students Admission to University of Kansas

KU International Admissions provides merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students seeking degrees. Here are the scholarships available for Fall 2024 admission for first-year freshmen:

High School Transcripts

To apply, you need to provide your grades from the last three years of high school, and they must be in English. If you’ve already graduated, send in your grades from the last four years of school, thus, including both middle and high school if needed. Make sure your school sends your transcripts directly. Your counselor can upload them online through your application system or email them to enrollintl@stonybrook.edu.

English Proficiency Test

To demonstrate your English proficiency, you must submit an official score report from one of the following exams: TOEFL, Duolingo, SAT, ACT, IELTS, AP, IB, A levels, or PTE Academic. Stony Brook University’s codes for SAT and TOEFL are 2548 and 2952 for ACT. While the university offers test-optional admissions, international applicants are still required to also provide proof of English proficiency through one of these exams. However, if you’re from an English-speaking country or have attended a U.S. high school for at least three years, you may be exempt from this requirement. Students who don’t meet the English proficiency criteria might still be considered for conditional admission.

Letter of Recommendation

You’ll need at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor. They can also submit it electronically through your application portal using the Teacher/Counselor Evaluation Form, or they can email it directly to enroll@stonybrook.edu.

If you’re applying for any of our honors programs, make sure to send in two Teacher Evaluations. For WISE, if you have one, it’s recommended that at least one evaluation comes from a science or math teacher.

Essay

You’re required to write an essay on a topic of your choice. You can however, include it with your application or upload it to your SBU Applicant Portal.

For Transfer Students

If you’ve been to any college or university after finishing high school, you’ll apply as a transfer student. To be eligible, you should have done well in your courses, completing at least 24 credits with a GPA of 2.8 or higher when you submit your application. If you have fewer than 24 credits, you’ll also need to send in your high school transcripts.

For certain majors, like those in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences or Business, there are specific admission criteria.

We give special consideration to graduates of university-parallel programs, such as AA and AS degree holders from colleges within the State University of New York and City University of New York systems. However, admission into specific programs isn’t guaranteed. Graduates of career-oriented programs (AAS and AOS) are reviewed on an individual basis and compete with other transfer applicants.

If you don’t specify a major on your application, you’ll be considered for admission to the University overall, not for a specific major. But if you have more than 56 credits, you must choose a major to be eligible for financial aid.

Admission offers are conditional until we receive all official records showing successful completion of your current coursework.

Once you register for classes, charges will show up on your student account. It’s your responsibility to pay these charges after registration. You must settle all tuition, fees, and other costs by the due date. You can pay your student account using a credit card or check on the SOLAR System website.

If you don’t pay by the due date, you’ll face late fees, and you won’t be able to access transcripts, diplomas, or certifications, or register for future semesters. Not paying doesn’t count as officially withdrawing from classes; you need to do that through the Registrar’s Office. Just not attending classes won’t cancel your financial responsibility or qualify you for a refund.
